Bridges began his musical career in the early 1990s, playing in various punk and hardcore bands in the Los Angeles area. In 1998, he co-founded The Icarus Line with guitarist Jeff Watson and bassist Troy Van Leeuwen. The band released their debut album, Mono, in 2000, followed by Penance Soiree in 2002.
The Icarus Line was known for their chaotic live shows, and Bridges was often cited as the driving force behind the band’s chaotic onstage antics. In 2003, the band was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song “Feed a Cat to Your Cobra.”
